About

My name is Lindsay Williams, and I am an Olympic Cross Country ski racer on the U.S. Ski Team.  I started cross country ski racing when I was going to high school in Hastings, Minnesota.  I joined the Hastings Nordic Ski Team, and i fell in love with the sport.  I trained year-round with the Minneapolis Ski Club, and i dedicated myself to ski racing.  I won the Minnesota State High School Championships, and also became a Junior National Champion.  I earned a scholarship for skiing at the legendary Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan.  So I moved up to Marquette to attend NMU, and raced for the powerful NMU ski team.  With the help of my coaches, Sten Fjeldheim and Jenny Ryan, during my college career I became a U.S. National Champion, 4 time NCAA All-American, including a NCAA National Champion.  I also made the Olympic tam in 2006 and competed in Torino, Italy.

Now my college eligibilty has ended, and i can pursue my dream of being a professional ski racer on the U.S. National Team.  I plan on racing in the 2010 and 2014 Olympics.  With the help of the U.S. Ski Team coaches I am on the right track to being in medal contention in these Olympics.  I am still young in the sport of cross county skiing and my best years are still yet to come.  Being a cross country ski racer requires several hours every day dedicated to ski training.  I have pushed my body past the point of what I thought possible countless times.  It is extremely hard work and it demands a very high level of dedication.  This is what I want to do, and I am willing and excited to make myself sweat!
